Chios Island |A Greco-Brazilian wedding

The mastic-scented island with a fascinating history

Much as Chios is famous for its mastic, it is not the only “magic” one can find on this island. Alongside its rich history starting from the Neolithic Age and including adventures with Saracene pirates and the Turks during the Greek Revolution, Chios also claims to be the birthplace of Homer.

Chios is world famous for the production of Mastic and when holidaying here, you should definitely visit Mastichohoria and learn more about this unique product. Mastic is used for the production of liqueurs, loukoumia, cosmetics and for many other local products.

It is also the home Island of Isidoros, the dashing army officer who stole the Brazilian beauty’s heart.

About the photographer
George Michalas

Nestled amidst the ancient magic of Athens, I weave stories of love and laughter into timeless photographs. But my journey began far from the sun-drenched Greek shoreline. Born under the vibrant skies of South Africa, I shot my first wedding back in 1997, in stunning Cape Town. More than just a photographer, I'm your confidante, your Greek guide, and your silent observer. With a blend of South African warmth and Greek passion, I'll turn your special day into memories that last a lifetime.
